What are the requirements for explosion-proof lamps in the petrochemical industry

Time:2023-08-22 Views:0

In industries such as petroleum and chemical, production and work sites are mostly flammable and explosive areas, with strict requirements for lighting equipment. The work areas in this industry are divided into the following types:

(1) Petrochemical plant area

Mainly for outdoor or indoor equipment such as towers, tanks, pipelines, etc., flood lighting is required. The lamp configuration is generally 2-4 meters, and the illumination requirement is generally around 30-50Lx. Because most areas are in Zone 1 or even Zone 0, the explosion-proof performance requirements for lighting fixtures are extremely strict, and most require explosion-proof levels above explosion-proof.

Most of them are outdoor areas, requiring lamps to have good waterproof and anti-corrosion performance. At the same time, many areas are high-altitude areas of several meters to hundreds of meters, high temperature and high pressure, making lamp maintenance extremely difficult and dangerous. Therefore, lamps are required to have maintenance free functions.

At present, the mainstream lamps used by enterprises are explosion-proof lamps equipped with low-voltage self ballasting mercury lamps or increased safety explosion-proof fluorescent lamps equipped with fluorescent lamps. There are disadvantages such as low explosion-proof level, poor waterproof performance, high maintenance workload, and low light source efficiency, especially short light source lifespan, poor safety, frequent maintenance, and frequent high-altitude operations, with occasional electric shock and high-altitude falling accidents, It is a major safety hazard in the electrical industry of production enterprises.

(2) Equipment areas such as pump rooms

Mainly for pumps and other equipment, it is required to be equipped with floodlighting. The height of the lamp configuration is generally 4-6 meters, and the illumination requirement is around 60-100Lx. Because most areas are in Zone 1 or even Zone 0, the explosion-proof performance requirements for lighting fixtures are extremely strict, with most requiring explosion-proof levels above explosion-proof. At the same time, most areas are in high temperature and high pressure areas, making replacement and maintenance of lighting fixtures extremely difficult and dangerous, requiring that the lighting fixtures have maintenance free function.

At present, the mainstream lamps used by enterprises are also self ballasted mercury lamps or fluorescent lamps, which have disadvantages such as low explosion-proof level, high maintenance workload, low light source efficiency, and also have problems such as large maintenance volume and many safety hazards in high-altitude operations.

(3) Oil industry field equipment area

Mainly for oil extraction and transportation equipment, which are generally located in scattered fields, power supply is difficult, and maintenance timeliness is poor. There are extremely high requirements for the explosion-proof performance, waterproof performance, corrosion resistance, and maintenance free performance of lighting fixtures.
